Eau de Source Marine
Seawater, a unique kind of water and the basis of our formulas.
SEAWATER FROM A NATURAL SPRING
The seawater is sourced from a natural pink granite reservoir at a depth of 22 meters. It then undergoes electrodialysis to reduce the salt content. The process preserves all of the original characteristics of the seawater’s stability. The earliest medicinal use of seawater dates from the 4th century B.C. when Hippocrates first coined the term “thalassotherapy.”
FORMULA: FROM EXCIPIENT TO ACTIVE INGREDIENT
Water is an essential component in dermocosmetic formulations. As an excipient, it serves as a diluent and vehicle for other substances and is basically inactive after undergoing standard osmosis. Our formulations contain a vitally important Eau de Source Marine concentrate, which endows the excipient water with active properties.
THERAPEUTIC BASIS
Our base formula is enriched with essential trace elements that have a unique composition. The therapeutic properties are not limited to the specific active ingredients, because the addition of seawater also provides several components that are beneficial to the skin. As humans, we have a natural capacity to easily absorb these elements due to the mineral makeup of our bodies.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Water is life. Growing pressure on our water resources — due to population and economic growth, climate change, pollution, etc. — has a significant impact on our well-being. Many of our most important aquifers are over-exploited and show a widespread drop in groundwater levels. Using processed seawater not only incorporates elements that are beneficial to the skin, but also decreases our environmental impact due to a reduction in the quantity of drinking water used. .

THERAPEUTIC ACTIVE WATER
Galenic formulation is the process of transforming an active ingredient into a ready-to-use medication that can be dosed as required. In dermocosmetics, Galenic formulation focuses on the preparation’s base and the composition of the active ingredients so as to optimize their absorption.
Generally speaking, all dermocosmetic formulations consist of the following:
EXCIPIENT
Excipients have been defined in several ways, for example as inactive substances that serve as the vehicle and diluent for medications. Water is the leading excipient in dermocosmetic formulations. It is mainly used as a diluent and vehicle for active ingredients. Although water tends to be the formulation’s main component, its action on the skin is limited.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT
By definition, an ingredient in a cosmetics product, drug or pharmaceutical that provides the pharmacological effect.

More Than Water
Therapeutic skin benefits.
Sourced from a natural pink granite reservoir at a depth of 22 meters, our formulation base is much more than simple water. It is an Eau de Source Marine that offers the combined benefits of hydration and anti-aging properties.
It reinforces the skin’s lipid barrier through endogenous hydration and gives the basement membrane exceptional strength, which helps prevent sagging and the loss of skin tone and elasticity. By reinforcing the structure of skin lipids, it prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and helps maintain the skin’s natural hydration.
The dermo-epidermal junction is also reinforced by an increase in the number of hemidesmosomes. This strengthens the skin and helps counteract moisture loss that can accelerate the signs of aging.
For All Skin Types

STIMULATES SKIN LIPID SYNTHESIS
Human keratinocytes were treated with Eau de Source Marine (100 g/ml) for 12 days. The three main lipids in the stratum corneum were analyzed using chromatographic analysis.
TOTAL LIPIDS +45%: Sphingomyelin +50%, Cholesterol* +65%, Ceramide III* +25%, Free fatty acids and triacylglycerols (triglycerides)* +43%.
* The 3 most important lipids in the stratum corneum.
REINFORCING THE DERMO-EPIDERMAL JUNCTION (DEJ)
The basal keratinocytes were treated with Eau de Source Marine (1 mg/ml) for 10 days. Observations and quantification were conducted using an electron microscope with a magnification of 30,000.
By increasing the number of hemidesmosomes, Eau de Source Marine reinforces the dermo-epidermal junction.
HYDRATING EFFECT (EX VIVO STUDY)
We evaluated six skin explants from Caucasian women (average age of 44) with the Raman spectroscopy method. The explants were treated with either 200 l of tap water (as reference) or 5% of Eau de Source Marine. They were then incubated for 8 hours at 32ºC. After obtaining the Raman spectra for the treated skin explants, we calculated their average for the corneum layer. Eau de Source Marine strengthens the skin and helps reverse moisture loss.
